History

The gardens at their very early beginnings.

This family operated business was built out of joint passions and family commitments. KJM Country Gardens is run by Lori Wotherspoon and her son Jordan McDonald, along with a talented and dedicated team of Horticulture professionals and enthusiasts.

The business opened on the property of the family home in May 2007. This property is situated in the beautiful and rural Southlands area of Vancouver where horses stroll down the street. Lori and her 3 children, Kenny, Jordan and Melanie discussed the possibilities of starting a family run business at a time when Lori was contemplating a career change. The name KJM is the combined initials of the 3 children.  A combination of timing and determination enabled them to turn their 1.2 acre property into a garden center. Jordan completed an intensive Horticulture course while Lori set to work on the business plan.

We believe that shopping in the garden should be an experience to be enjoyed. We have worked hard to create this atmosphere for our customers. Come and experience our garden.

Gradually, the site was transformed from an empty field to full and thriving garden center. Everything from the pathways, fencing and structures to the nursery tables and display areas was designed and built by hand. Each year since opening, another corner of the site is transformed into another little oasis to be enjoyed and appreciated.
Starting the business required sacrifices but a strong desire and commitment helped us turn our dreams into reality.
